All the News from the Kenelm Youth Trust

Dear Abbey Parishioners,

It was wonderful during the month of October to have a number of conferences, including a Clergy conference, to consider the needs of young people and our pastoral response. The Kenelm Youth Trust (KYT) were proud to share new initiatives of work including resources for young adults and extensions to the wellbeing and mental health programme: Quo Vadis. We were delighted to be joined by our expert speaker, Dr Julia Sadusky, who helped explore questions of faith and gender so pertinent to our pastoral work among young people and families. Further follow up to these conference days will be offered shortly. In the meantime, we share upcoming information families and young parishioners may be interested in.

Flame 2025- Saturday 15th March 2025

The Archdiocese has around 400 young people travelling to Flame 2025 and we look forward to travelling together to Wembley for the largest gathering of young people in the UK. There is still opportunity for young people to travel with KYT. The target age group travelling with KYT is 14 to 25 years. If you are interested in bringing a group, please contact Yemisi at Yemisi.wisoba@kenelmyouthtrust.org.uk

World Youth Sunday- 23 and 24th November 2024

We have a large pool of young adults happy to speak in parishes on the weekend of the 23rd to 24th November for World Youth Sunday, the feast of Christ the King, however if you think you would like to speak about your faith we can provide a template to help you prepare. The template script for this weekend can be found here...

The Trustees of KYT and myself are very grateful for the crucial second collection support the parishes undertake on the Feast of Christ the King. This collection ensures the Kenem Youth Trust can continue to offer parishes and schools a range of events, programmes, and retreats.

We look forward to arranging with you a speaker for your masses or supporting a young person or youth leader you choose to speak.

Our annual report and bookmarks for use will be available at today's Deanery meeting. Please find the link to our annual report here: https://www.kenelmyouthtrust.org.uk/annualreport.html

Last week KYT were in Lourdes coordinating the youth section of the pilgrimage. It was an incredible week with 218 young people from 15 schools and parishes.  Young people 16+ worked in the Accuiel with the assisted pilgrims pushing them in wheelchairs, praying with pilgrims, accompanying them to services, cleaning, serving meals and drinks . Young People under 16 took part in our under 16’s programme with tours of Lourdes, pic de jour, mission and social action and service in the pilgrimage programme.

The feedback in terms of the young people’s journey in faith and experience of church community makes this pilgrimage of great value and importance in the KYT calendar.

Congratulations to Carmel Keane, our KYT Trustee and long standing parish youth leader of 26 years at Christ the King Coventry, who received the Benemerenti Medal for exceptional service to the Catholic Church, their families and community. Carmel received this award during 12 noon Mass Sunday 9th June.
We continue to be inspired by Carmel's commitment to her ministry.

On Sunday 30th June we will be meeting together for our in-person Gathered Network meeting at Our Lady and All Saints Church Stourbridge. This is a chance to meet and share with other youth leaders across the Archdiocese and celebrate the work that you are doing for the young people in your parishes.

The afternoon runs from 4.30pm -7pm (programme above) We hope to also have a shared meal together and so if you wish to bring a shared dish with you please do.

If you have any questions you can let Libby know via Email - libby.cox@kenelmyouthtrust.org.uk.

Congratulations to Parish leaders from parishes in Leamington Spa and Wolverhampton who completed the Bethsaida training course.

Thank you for your commitment to the Young People of your parishes and for answering the call to take on this ministry.

Invocation at Adoremus is a day (for peoples aged 16+) organised by the Bishops Conference of England and Wales in collaboration with the Conference of Diocesan Directors of Vocation and the Catholic Youth Ministry Federation.

It will be a day intrinsic to the Eucharistic Congress: Adoremus 2024, and carry throughout the day themes focused on understanding, reverencing, and celebrating the gift of the Eucharist in our Catholic lives.

As Jesus is at the heart of our Mass, Eucharist, and Catholic Lives, Invocation will invite us to reflect on how we follow Jesus, how we respond to the universal call to Holiness, essentially; to discern and embrace our vocation.

This day will offer you the time and place, as well as resources, formation, and accompaniment to embrace what God is asking of you.

Mission Malawi is fast approaching but we are still accepting any donations you may wish to give.

Our group will be working in schools, teaching lessons, working in health clinics, learning about the impact of climate change on the local community and some of the projects famers and are engaged with.
We will also be helping to run a feeding programme and creating a sustainable garden in the primary school.

By donating to the St. Francis Malawi Trust 100% of the money will be going to the mission to provide food and life-saving medicines to the health clinic.

This is what your donation could do!

£5 will pay for a treatment for ringworm or impetigo.

£10 will buy a sack of maize seed or soya, enabling a family to grow food for the following year.

£20 will provide drugs urgently needed for malaria or epilepsy.

£50 will give essential long-term treatment for vulnerable children for a year.

Any amount will make a difference to a child’s life.

If you are able to donate at all you can do so using the link below or by scanning the QR Code above.
