GO WITH HOPE

GO WITH HOPE
On Saturday, 7th March, over 100 young people and youth leaders from across the Archdiocese joined the Parish Youth Ministry Team at Oscott College for “Go With Hope!”.
The day allowed our young people to reflect on the legacy of the Jubilee and how we can continue to find and bring hope to the world, featuring input from Beccy Roseman on “Jesus our hope” and from Tommie & Jas of the SVP, sharing how we walk in hope with others. The day also included workshops on Visio Divina, civic maturity with a Royal Navy officer, faith in action with CAFOD & Fr Hudson's Cartias, and even an open mic over lunch with young people sharing more of their amazing gifts and talents. Our day concluded with Mass in the stunning Oscott Chapel with Bishop Timothy.
We extend a huge thank you to our youth leaders, parents and carers who organised transport of their young people, our clergy who stayed with us all day and ministered to us in reconciliation and Mass, all of our speakers and workshop leaders, and to Canon Michael Dolman and all the staff and team at Oscott for use of this amazing space, a real gem in our Archdiocese.

VITAL
On Saturday, 14th March, 7 Young people from English Martyrs & St Francis Xavier parish in Birmingham came together to take part in VITAL, a KYT programme for training young parish leaders. Over the course of the day, young people took part in 4 Sessions designed to build their leadership skills and confidence. Looking at: Perspectives and how we view situations differently, working as a team, faith & leadership, and the legacy we want to leave our parishes and communities. Following this day, all the young people present will recieve a certificate from the Archbishop, confirming their attendance and completion of the training, which can go on their CVs.
A massive thank you to Youth Leaders Essien and Chi-chi, who both encouraged and supported their young people over the course of the day.
If you are interested in running VITAL in your parish and would like to find out more, please contact Christian at KYT or your local area worker.

Jubilee of Saint Francis of Assisi
7th Jan 2026 - 7th Jan 2027

Pope Leo announced the commencement of the Jubilee of Saint Francis of Assisi on the 7th January 2026, marking the 800th year since the saints death in 1226.

Pope Leo believes Saint Francis offered a powerful model for Christian renewal in times of social change and moral uncertainty. By highlighting Francis’ simple Gospel life, we are encouraged to enter into deeper conversion, compassion for the poor, and a renewed sense of responsibility towards both society and creation.

The Holy Year therefore serves not only as a commemoration, but as a call for the Church to rediscover authentic Christian joy, discipleship and mission through the example of Saint Francis.

Keep an eye out for events, resources and initatives coming soon from KYT to help us celebrate this Holy Year together!
